Dr. Haniza Yon

President

Dr. Haniza Yon was the founding President of the Malaysian Psychometrics Association (MPA), and is currently serving her seventh presidential term. She is a social scientist with a long-standing interest in psychometrics, and a passionate advocate of fairness and high standards in testing. She obtained her PhD in Measurement and Quantitative Methods from Michigan State University, USA.

She has been working in psychometrics for more than 20 years, primarily as a psychometrician at the Educational Testing Service (ETS) of Princeton, New Jersey, USA, and as a Director of the Psychometrics Lab at MIMOS Berhad, Malaysia. Psychometric technologies that rely on intellectual property produced by her are widely used in many government and private organisations in various industries in Malaysia and foreign countries. Her main research interest is in the application of psychometrics and digital assessment technology in measuring human potential and capabilities.

Dr. Rahimah Adam

Vice-President 1

Dr. Rahimah Adam is presently heading the Assessment Policy Sector at the Examinations Syndicate, Ministry of Education Malaysia as the Deputy Director of Examinations. She graduated from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland, United Kingdom with a PhD in Education specializing is educational assessment. She obtained her Masters of Education (Educational Management) from the International Islamic University Malaysia and Diploma of Education (English) from Maktab Perguruan Ilmu Khas. Her first degree was in architecture which she attained from the University of Miami, Florida USA.

She has been working at the Examinations Syndicate since 2003; undertaking various responsibilities and tasks related to educational assessment. She was a secondary school teacher before that. Her research interests include assessment for learning, authentic assessment, and teacher training in assessment competence. She has published and presented papers on competency-based assessment, school-based assessment, and alternative assessment at various national and international conferences.

Dr. Mohd Zali Mohd Nor

Vice-President 2

Dr. Mohd Zali Mohd Nor is an IT Manager in a shipping services company. He received his BSc in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA, in 1988, his Master of Management in IT from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2005, and his PhD in Management Information Systems in 2012.

In 2009, he began studying Rasch measurement models, especially Rating Scale, Partial Credit, and Facets models. As Vice President of myRasch, he is currently active in both training in and consulting on Rasch analysis. In this capacity, he has provided assistance to government agencies, educational testing institutions, and postgraduate students from various local universities.

Ms. Nur Ayu Johar

Nur Ayu is a trained associate psychometrician with almost 10 years of industry experience. She obtained her B. Ed (Mathematics) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia and her M. Ed (Measurement & Evaluation) from the National University of Malaysia, Selangor, Malaysia. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Educational Measurement at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Her research interests include, among others, educational measurement and psychometrics. She has published and presented several papers on measurement, psychometrics and on issues related to education.

Dr. Nurliyana Bukhari

Dr. Nurliyana Bukhari received her PhD from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in the Educational Research Methodology Department with a concentration on Educational Research, Measurement, and Evaluation. She has a Master of Science in Education from the University of Miami in the same major as her PhD. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education, with a major in Information Technology and a minor in TESL, from the Universiti Utara Malaysia.

Her research focuses on examining the multidimensional factors in next-generation assessment systems that may affect students’ test scores, especially for English Learners (ELs) and students with disabilities (SWD). Other research interests include multidimensional and unidimensional item response theory, language testing, and program evaluation.

Previously, she interned at the internationally renowned testing company CTB/McGraw Hill Education, in Monterey, California (now a division of Data Recognition Corporation). There she worked on a computer-based K-12 interim assessment program to examine the psychometric characteristics of a sample of innovative item formats such as technology-enhanced items and computerized performance exercises.

Ms. Kok Mun Yee

Assistant Secretary

Mun Yee is a trained psychometric test developer with over seven years of industry experience, focusing on driving innovative organisational and people development solutions, as well as the development of non-cognitive assessments. She is interested in psychological testing and its implications for modern industries. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology (HELP University). Following her passion for the field of industrial-organisational psychology, she completed her MSc in Management Psychology at the University of Nottingham Malaysia.

Given her experience in both academic and commercial research, she is keen on integrating her learning experiences to best support clients’ priorities. She is a firm believer in the growth mindset.

Mr. Mohamad Syazwan Hamzah

Treasurer

Mohamad Syazwan Bin Hamzah is an Accountant at Global Psytech Sdn Bhd.

He obtained his Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) from University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN). He has been working in audit firms in the private sector and has a strong accounting, auditing, and taxation background from the industry.

He is currently applying to become a Certified Accountant.

Dr. Norashady bin Mohd Noor

Assistant Treasurer

Dr. Norashady is a senior lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Department at Sultan Azlan Shah Polytechnic, Tanjong Malim, Perak. He has 16 years of work experience as a lecturer. Apart from teaching Mechanical Engineering courses, he is actively conducting studies in the field of educational measurement, assessment, and evaluation. He also provides consulting services in regard to autonomous vehicles, artificial intelligence, and deep learning

Mr. Wan Shafiuddin B. Zainuddin

Webmaster

Wan Shafiuddin started his career in the IT industry as a Multimedia Programmer and then became a Software Engineer at the University of Tun Abdul Razak (1999). He joined CyberSecurity Malaysia in 2007 as a test lab manager. Now, he is the Head of the Information Security Certification Body.

Wan Shafiuddin has been involved in more than 30 Common Criteria Evaluation Projects at Evaluation Assurance Levels (EAL) 1 to 4+. He now represents Malaysia, through CyberSecurity Malaysia, as a member of the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA). CCRA is a mutually recognised arrangement which consist of 30 countries worldwide.

Wan Shafiuddin holds a degree in Computer Science (Hons.) majoring in Information Systems from the University of Science Malaysia (USM). He is a Certified Ethical Hacker.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Kaseh Abu Bakar

Kaseh Abu Bakar holds a B.A. (Hons) in Arabic Language & Literature (Mohamad V, Morocco, 1992), a Dip. Ed. in TASL/Islamic Studies (IIUM, 1993), an MEd. Foreign Language Education (Pittsburgh, 1997) and a PhD in Education (IIUM, 2008). She was awarded the Hassan Langgulung Award for Best PhD Student in Education by IIUM.

She is passionate about measuring learner competency in Arabic. She has been involved in the review of the training kit for the ACTFL-based Simulated Oral Proficiency Interview of Arabic (Centre for Applied Linguistics, Washington D.C.) and the development of competency-based al-Imtihan al-Jami’e lil lughatil Arabiyyah (Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia). She also led the design and development of the Computer-based Test of Arabic Competency (CBAT), a top-down project by UKM.

Since 2006, she has been giving training and consultancy services on Rasch Model as well as on Common European Frame of Reference for Languages (CEFR) to various research groups, governmental departments, and educational institutions including UKM, MARA, the Ministry of Human Resources, and the Ministry of Education.

Assoc. Prof. Dr Siti Rahmah Awang

Siti Rahmah Awang is an Associate Professor at Azman Hashim International Business School. She has had 27 years experience in academics. Before she turned into an academician, she had worked as a Planning Assistant Manager at an international company and also had worked as an administration assistant at a graphics company in Sheffield, United Kingdom.

Siti Rahmah started her academic career as a lecturer at MARA Institute of Technology (now known as Universiti Teknologi MARA) in 1993 and then joined Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2002, and has worked at UTM ever since. She is a qualified mathematician and statistician who graduated from California State University, USA with Bachelor of Mathematics and Statistics. She continued her masters degree in statistics at University of Sheffield, UK and then pursued her PhD in Applied Statistics (Psychometrics) at Universiti Teknologi MARA.

Her expertise and her research work are mostly focused on Multiple Intelligence and Fuzzy Modelling, which she has applied in research and consultation on psychometrics, emotional intelligence, leadership, and social science research.

Ms. Syafiqah Binti Mohd Sabri

Syafiqah Binti Mohd Sabri obtained her Bachelor Degree in Psychology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Previously, she worked as an Associate Psychologist at Global Psytech Sdn. Bhd. She is now an officer who specializes in marketing as well as encouraging patient education for better understanding of and confidence about prevention of health problems, conditions, and treatment options for healthcare.

Ms. Razana Md Salleh

Razana Md Salleh is the Senior Analyst in the Information Security Certification Body, CyberSecurity Malaysia.

She received her Honour Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT) from the Universiti Utara Malaysia and a Master’s degree in Information Science from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

Ms. Norsida Binti Ibrahim

Hajah Norsida binti Ibrahim is the Principal Assistant Director of the Psychometric Unit at the Malaysian Examination Syndicate in the Ministry of Education (MOE) of Malaysia.

She received her Honours Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the International Islamic University Malaysia, a diploma in Education from Maktab Perguruan Teknik, and a Master’s degree in Education from Sultan Idris Education University.

Dr. Hanizah Hamzah

Dr Hanizah Hamzah has 28 years of service in the Ministry of Education, including 20 years in the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate. She started her career in education as teacher, then moved on as an instrument developer, researcher, and training manager, and has delivered many courses related to assessment and item analysis

She is now responsible for managing data for validation of instruments produced by the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate. Her professional interests are to uphold fairness in assessment and promote holistic and integrated assessments based on an idea called Insanometrics.

Mrs. Noorashikeen Mohamed

Noorashikeen Mohamed began her double bachelor’s degrees with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and B.A. in Jewish and Near Eastern Studies at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri in 1998, followed by a Master of Social Sciences (Counselling Psychology) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2010. She started her career as a Psychology Officer on August 1, 2002 in the Public Service Department and still serves in the Psychology Management Division, JPA. Currently, she is pursuing a doctorate in Industrial Organizational Psychology (IO) at UKM.

Her last position before pursuing her studies was as Principal Assistant Director at the Psychometric Cluster, Psychology Management Division. JPA. She is a certified psychological test practitioner and holds various accreditation certificates such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) in 2004, Sidek Personality Inventory (IPS) in 2011, Harrison Assessments (HATS) in 2013, and Hogan Inventory Assessments in 2015. In addition, she is a recognized practitioner in the fields of Unmasking the Unconscious Mind and Neurolinguistics Programming (NLP), a Professional Facilitator (KPF 116), Art Therapist, and Financial Advisor of AKPK.

The function of the committee is to organize and supervise the day-to-day activities of the association and to make decisions on matters affecting its running within the general policy laid down by the general meeting.
